The commandment revealed to Moses is supposed to be followed by the Muslims as well. And it is common knowledge that Jesus was sent to the house of Israel to revive the commandments of God.

Here I am pasting few verses (Chapter 6, Verses 151 to 155) from the Qur’an that mentions the commandments

151. Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited you from: Join not anything in worship with Him; be good and dutiful to your parents; kill not your children because of poverty - We provide sustenance for you and for them; come not near to Al-Fawâhish (shameful sins, illegal sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, and kill not anyone whom Allâh has forbidden, except for a just cause (according to Islâmic law). This He has commanded you that you may understand.

152. "And come not near to the orphan's property, except to improve it, until he (or she) attains the age of full strength; and give full measure and full weight with justice. We burden not any person, but that which he can bear. And whenever you give your word (i.e. judge between men or give evidence, etc.), say the truth even if a near relative is concerned, and fulfill the Covenant of Allâh, This He commands you, that you may remember.

153. "And verily, this (i.e. Allâh's Commandments mentioned in the above two Verses 151 and 152) is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2)."

154. Then, We gave Mûsa (Moses) the Book [the Taurât (Torah)], to complete (Our Favour) upon those who would do right, and explaining all things in detail and a guidance and a mercy that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.

155. And this is a blessed Book (the Qur'ân) which We have sent down, so follow it and fear Allâh (i.e. do not disobey His Orders), that you may receive mercy (i.e. saved from the torment of Hell).

So when we understand that the God of Muslims is the God of the jews, plus your understanding that the God of Muslims have forbidden usury, then it follows that usury would be forbidden to jews as well.

Here in the fourth chapter, God mentions that Usury was forbidden to them:

160. For the wrongdoing of the Jews, We made unlawful to them certain good foods which has been lawful to them, and for their hindering many from Allâh's Way;

161. And their taking of Ribâ (usury) though they were forbidden from taking it and their devouring of men's substance wrongfully (bribery, etc.). And We have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful torment.

Knowledgeable Muslims are aware of how abominable usury is in the sight of God. Here are some narrations from the messenger of God regarding usury:

It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes ribaa(usury), the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it. He said they are all the same.” (Narrated by Muslim).

The Muslims scholars have given a ruling that it’s forbidden to work in banks in any capacity be it as a software developer or as a security guard.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A dirham which a man consumes as riba knowingly is worse before Allaah than thirty-six acts of zina.” Narrated by Ahmad and al-Tabaraani; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3375.

And he said: “There are seventy-two types of riba, the least of which is like a man committing incest with his mother.” Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Awsat; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 3537.

Unfortunately a lot many Muslims still engage in usurious transactions.

Ussamah habibhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13482084739771669510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8843622890993430532.post-7788268809687393282016-07-30T10:05:35.793-07:002016-07-30T10:05:35.793-07:00Since you are a knowledgeable Muslim, I have a que...Since you are a knowledgeable Muslim, I have a question for you:

Did Islam ever permit the Jews to practice Usury (the lending of money for interest)?

Also, I know usury cannot be practiced by Muslims, so what is the status of banking in the Muslim world?

End of the Western Worldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16029523553099819684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8843622890993430532.post-12683944231701224172016-07-29T02:32:50.352-07:002016-07-29T02:32:50.352-07:00You go man!
